8 Therefore the Lord Almighty says this: “Because you have not listened to my words, 9 I will summon all the peoples of the north and my servant Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon,” declares the Lord, “and I will bring them against this land and its inhabitants and against all the surrounding nations. I will completely destroy[a] them and make them an object of horror and scorn, and an everlasting ruin. 10 I will banish from them the sounds of joy and gladness, the voices of bride and bridegroom, the sound of millstones and the light of the lamp. 11 This whole country will become a desolate wasteland, and these nations will serve the king of Babylon seventy years.
12 “But when the seventy years are fulfilled, I will punish the king of Babylon and his nation, the land of the Babylonians,[b] for their guilt,” declares the Lord, “and will make it desolate forever. 13 I will bring on that land all the things I have spoken against it, all that are written in this book and prophesied by Jeremiah against all the nations.
Daniel 9:2-3
2 in the first year of his reign, I, Daniel, understood from the Scriptures, according to the word of the Lord given to Jeremiah the prophet, that the desolation of Jerusalem would last seventy years. 3 So I turned to the Lord God and pleaded with him in prayer and petition, in fasting, and in sackcloth and ashes.
MEDITATION:
Jeremiah prophesied that the children of Israel will serve the king of Babylon for seventy years and nothing happened until seventy years was completed in the land. In fact, it was Daniel that understood by books that they were to spend seventy years in captivity and took it upon himself to pray and God heard just like He heard the cry of the children of Israel and He asked Cyrus, the king to release them in order to build him a house in Jerusalem. So without war, He peacefully fulfilled his promise Jeremiah 29:10-14.
PRAYER: Pray fervently like Daniel did that all your pending promises that is delayed will come to pass.
