// Read: Genesis 15:13-16; Exodus 3:7-10 //
13 Then the Lord said to him, “Know for certain that for four hundred years your descendants will be strangers in a country not their own and that they will be enslaved and mistreated there. 14 But I will punish the nation they serve as slaves, and afterward they will come out with great possessions. 15 You, however, will go to your ancestors in peace and be buried at a good old age. 16 In the fourth generation your descendants will come back here, for the sin of the Amorites has not yet reached its full measure.”
Exodus 3:7-10
7 The Lord said, “I have indeed seen the misery of my people in Egypt. I have heard them crying out because of their slave drivers, and I am concerned about their suffering. 8 So I have come down to rescue them from the hand of the Egyptians and to bring them up out of that land into a good and spacious land, a land flowing with milk and honey—the home of the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites. 9 And now the cry of the Israelites has reached me, and I have seen the way the Egyptians are oppressing them. 10 So now, go. I am sending you to Pharaoh to bring my people the Israelites out of Egypt.”
MEDITATION:
God told Abraham that his seed shall be a stranger in a land that was not theirs and shall serve them and they shall afflict them for four hundred years. Beloved, nothing can change God’s word. There is nothing Abraham or other generations before the fourth that left Egypt could do to prevent it. And in Exodus, it was at the time appointed that God sent Moses to deliver them. Even Abraham that heard the promise was no more alive, yet God fulfilled what He had said. Beloved, relax, Has God said anything to you about your future? He is committed. He is trustworthy.
PRAYER: Lord, increase my faith in your word.
