8 But Rehoboam refused the old men’s counsel and called in the young men with whom he had grown up.

9 “What do you think I should do?” he asked them.

10 And the young men replied, “Tell them, ‘If you think my father was hard on you, well, I’ll be harder!

MEDITATION:
Another person that friends and companion destroyed is Rehoboam. Rehoboam was counseled by his peers that he should add to the burden of his people instead of reducing it as they desired of him. This advice made the reign of Rehoboam a terrible one and it was cut short. Be careful of your source of influence and advice, don’t let people cut your glory short by evil counsel.

PRAYER: Pray for grace to say NO to evil counsel.
