18 In the course of time, David defeated the Philistines and subdued them, and he took Gath and its surrounding villages from the control of the Philistines.

MEDITATION:
Most of the times God starts with a man the prototype of what he will become before he actually experiences the actual type.

i. David first handled Goliath of Gath before handling the city of Gath.
ii. Mordecai was first at the gate before he was moved to the Palace.
iii. Joseph first served the officer of Pharaoh (Potiphar) before serving Pharaoh in the Palace.
