// Read: I Samuel 17:34-36 //
34 But David said to Saul, “Your servant has been keeping his father’s sheep. When a lion or a bear came and carried off a sheep from the flock, 35 I went after it, struck it and rescued the sheep from its mouth. When it turned on me, I seized it by its hair, struck it and killed it. 36 Your servant has killed both the lion and the bear; this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them, because he has defied the armies of the living God.
MEDITATION:
Shepherding is a dangerous work and that is why the sheep need to be praying for the shepherds. Shepherds also need to know the following:
i. Understand that they are your Father’s sheep do not claim ownership.
ii. Lion or bear can come amidst the flock (vs. 34)
iii. Go after the lion and bear.
iv. Strike them and rescue the sheep. You cannot rescue without striking first.
- Go with ‘yours’. Your staff, your sling, your shepherd’s bag.
PRAYER: Father, I receive grace to be a good Shepherd.
