// Read: Proverbs 31:1-9 //
1 The sayings of King Lemuel—an inspired utterance his mother taught him.
2 Listen, my son! Listen, son of my womb!
Listen, my son, the answer to my prayers!
3 Do not spend your strength[a] on women,
your vigor on those who ruin kings.
4 It is not for kings, Lemuel—
it is not for kings to drink wine,
not for rulers to crave beer,
5 lest they drink and forget what has been decreed,
and deprive all the oppressed of their rights.
6 Let beer be for those who are perishing,
wine for those who are in anguish!
7 Let them drink and forget their poverty
and remember their misery no more.
8 Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves,
for the rights of all who are destitute.
9 Speak up and judge fairly;
defend the rights of the poor and needy.
MEDITATION:
There are three key points in today’s passage; i. Types of Sons; sons, sons of the womb and sons of the promises; ii. Rulers (leaders) should not crave for liquor in order not to forget their duties; iii. Leaders are to ensure justice, speak up for the poor and helpless.
All these were taught by a mother to her son, King Lemuel. The Bible called them “Oracle” meaning wise or highly regarded and influential pronouncements. How many mothers can be remembered for their words?
PRAYER: Pray that you will abide by the wisdom of these pronouncements.
REVEALED WORD TODAY
A VIRTUOUS WOMAN (SATURDAY MARCH 6, 2021)
// Read: Proverbs 31:10-31 //
MEDITATION:
King Lemuel was a very fortunate son to have a mother that gave him wise counsels. The passage today must be describing her and her values. Take special note of verses 10-12. Verses 11-12 should be every married woman’s goal in life. Inability to achieve this will make a woman waste a life time. Genesis 2:18 says “I will make him a help meet”. This can only be achieved when today’s passage is obeyed. May the Lord help every woman fulfill destiny in Jesus name.
PRAYER: Lord, make me (my wife) a virtuous woman that her price is far above rubies.
