GROWING OLD IN SPIRIT

// Read I Kings 1:1-4 //
1 When King David was very old, he could not keep warm even when they put covers over him. 2 So his attendants said to him, “Let us look for a young virgin to serve the king and take care of him. She can lie beside him so that our lord the king may keep warm.”

3 Then they searched throughout Israel for a beautiful young woman and found Abishag, a Shunammite, and brought her to the king. 4 The woman was very beautiful; she took care of the king and waited on him, but the king had no sexual relations with her.

MEDITATION:
The life of David in this story also typifies what happened when a man is growing old in the Spirit. When a man is getting old, his spiritual life will not gather heat like David, there is going to be lack of internal heat. Heat coming from outside cannot handle the lack of internal heat. External covering will not produce sufficient heat. Several virgin lands like Haggith would just be wasted because they will not be fruitful. Lack of heat does not know title; do you have heat in your spiritual life? If not, begin to generate heat now by personal prayer commitments, study of the word, fasting and disciplinary measures.

PRAYER: Oh Lord give me heat where I am burn out in my spirit.
